Our History

The Full Story

The Georgetown Black Law Students Association (“BLSA”) was founded in 1968. Over the course of 56 years, Georgetown BLSA has grown to become one of the country's largest and most active BLSA chapters. Our chapter is a proud affiliate of the National Black Law Students Association (“NBLSA”), which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization representing thousands of minority law students from virtually all ABA-accredited law school campuses. With over 240 members and approximately 80 events and programming per academic year, Georgetown BLSA is one of the largest student organizations on the Georgetown University Law Center campus and was the recipient of the BLSA Chapter of the Year award in 2014. Since its inception, Georgetown BLSA has always aimed to maintain and develop a sense of community and a system of support amongst Black Georgetown Law students.
